Preface

While this isn’t a get rich quick story, a story of using my parents “go away and do something” money/gift, or an “accidently discovered super glue” story, it is a story of a simple idea and a journey. While the story isn’t complete, hopefully this will inspire you to have a dream and go for it despite what society and life throws in your path.

Random Fate

After working as a sales and marketing manager for a fortune 500 company for 7 years, I was miserable. I wanted to get back down to the beach in a hurry but was stuck inland at a job I didn’t love. I was making 6 figures but spending it all just to stay slightly happy.
While waiting for a person I was supposed to interview, I grabbed a "Money" magazine we had in the lobby. I had passed a stack of past issues of that magazine every day for years and never paid it much attention. I looked at the cover and it said something like "How to quit your job and launch your own company". I was extremely skeptical, thinking of those numerous MLM scams that advertise all the time.
I read the article, and its first advice was to find a hobby you love. Second, it said start a website about that hobby. I thought to myself, “What website could I start about a hobby of mine?” The next thought that hit me changed my life….. The website I created 7 years ago, Beachmonkey.com, was about a hobby of mine. I loved beaches, surfing, and night life. The name was perfect, and the concept began swirling and swirling around my head. Ideas began to fly and I couldn’t think fast enough to keep up. Suddenly I had a direction in life that I wanted to go. After work, I went home and began to sketch out all the ideas I came up with.

Get Rich on the internet or die trying

Have you ever googled “How to make money on the internet?” You might as well smear honey on your face and body and jump into the grizzly den. More useless links than atoms in the universe will appear all claiming they know the secret to success. Every single one has the same story, that they and only they have the true path to financial freedom, and the rest of the links are total shams. If you ever try to find what they actually did to make money on the internet, it turns out they didn’t do anything except to tell people how to make money on the internet.
That’s right, they made their millions not by launching the next Facebook but launching the next site that explains how they launched said site that explains how to launch sites, on how to make money. So to get this straight….the first day they launched their site saying “I made millions on the internet”, they only had the money in their pocket, and far from the millions they claimed to have made. They only made millions after millions of people read their site that bragged about how much money they made. And they want us to believe that they are telling us the truth? Pleeeeze!
After reading about 5 or 6 ridicules sites like this, I decided to hit up a friend of mine who had just quit his 6 figure job as a lawyer and started his own website. Eddie Babbage started resonate vibes (http://resonantvibes.com/ ) and it was a dream of his. He gave me real advice. He said “Keep looking and researching. You will find better ways to launch your site.” Over the next 3-4 years, he would always be my go-to person for advice and lend an ear. He is one of the many people who fell onto my path at the right time. Sometimes you have to have a bit of luck.
